SBT Six-Day Mind-Training Program

Mind-Training

Mind-training, or more appropriately ‘heart-training’, is a Tibetan Buddhist practice aimed at cultivating and attaining bodhichitta – the altruistic mind of awakening. It’s practiced by contemplating and visualizing a set of prescribed topics leading to the development of the mind of bodhichitta. Mind-training isn’t merely a seated practice, but something we incorporate throughout our day. The simplest of contemplations being the continual reflection upon the thought, ‘May I awaken in order to benefit all beings’.
Traditionally, there are two main methods of mind-training, the seven-point cause and effect method, and the five-fold exchanging self and other method. However, in order to accommodate our modern audience, SBT shares a more secular presentation, merging the various traditional topics into a six-point method that can be practiced within a single week.
